Why does my speech sound choppy word by word?

Choppy speech usually means you're pronouncing each word as its own island instead of letting adjacent words link the way native speech does.

A related but distinct sign: if your tempo score flags rushed or dragging transitions even mid-phrase, where no punctuation calls for a pause, that can mean you're inserting small resets between words that shouldn't be there — treating every word edge like the edge of a sentence.

The core habit to build is letting a final consonant flow directly into the next word's first sound instead of finishing each word cleanly before starting the next.
