Record yours first. A memorised TOEFL answer is audible in the rhythm, and raters mark delivery, which is exactly what memorisation damages. When I work alone I can follow an idea for two hours without defending it, and the first version of anything needs that protection. Groups are good at something different, which is finding the flaw. If I bring a finished draft to four people, one of them will see the problem in ninety seconds. What does not work is starting in a room together, because the first plausible suggestion becomes the plan and nobody has thought carefully yet. So my preference is sequential rather than one or the other.
