How to answer Task 2

  1. 1

    Note the change and the two reasons

    Almost every Task 2 reading announces a change. Almost every conversation gives one speaker two reasons for or against it. Write those three things and you have the answer.

  2. 2

    Report, do not argue

    'The man disagrees with the plan for two reasons' — then the reasons. Adding your own view spends seconds on something nobody is marking.

  3. 3

    Keep the summary of the reading to one sentence

    Ten seconds on the announcement, fifty on the speaker. The commonest failure is a beautiful summary and no reasons.

Straight answers

Can I use my own opinion in Task 2?

No. The task asks you to report what a speaker said and why. Your opinion earns nothing and costs you time you need for their reasons.

Can sayit practise this task?

Only the spoken half. We do not give you the reading or the conversation, so what you get from recording here is a delivery check — pace, pauses, fillers and every sound against its target — on a 60-second report you prepare yourself.
