Reading aloud practice with word-by-word feedback

Reading aloud is the fastest way to get sayit's most precise scoring: it already knows exactly what you meant to say, so every single word gets an exact verdict instead of a best guess at what freeform speech might have meant.

Questions

Straight answers

What's the difference between reading aloud and freeform practice?

Reading aloud runs in reference mode: sayit knows the exact target text, so scoring is precise down to individual words. Freeform scores only what it heard, with no known target.

Does punctuation affect the score?

Pauses at sentence and clause boundaries are expected and don't cost you — sudden pauses mid-phrase are what get flagged.

Can I read my own text instead of a set passage?

In the app, Library and Books give you full passages already leveled for you. The practice widget on this page works with any short passage you're given.
